Railway teams reigned supreme by winning both the men’s and women’s titles in the Senior Zonal Kabaddi Chamionship, which concluded at Baliyatra ground here today. In the finals, railway men crushed Jharkhand 43-11, while their women trounced West Bengal 42-12.
Earlier in the men’s semifinals, Railway thrashed host Orissa 48-17, while Jharkhand prevailed over Manipur 54-25. In the women’s semifinals, Railway got the better of Orissa 34-18 and West Bengal outplayed Bihar 41-17.
The top four teams in both the categories qualified for the Federation Cup. Railway captain and Arjuna Awardee Rakesh Kumar was adjudged the player of the three-day tournament, which was hosted by Orissa Kabaddi Association.
